We had a problem with a pup we bought from a breeder in Michigan and Lakeside Shepherds was willing to help us even though it was not one of their pups. We had tried to reach the breeder our pup came from but we were unsuccessful. It was late at night on a Saturday and our veterinarian was not available. Desperate for help, we reached out to Lakeside and they responded with advice that helped save our pup. We were unhappy with our pup the first 3 days after getting him. He was whining wanting his mom and litter mates. When we let him out of his kennel, he wanted to chew on everything because he was teething. We had never had a pup and didn’t know what to expect but we found out later all this was normal for a pup this age. The breeder assured us these little problems would soon pass and they did. We searched everywhere for a solid powder blue German Shepherd but what few we found were priced two thousand and up. Someone suggested checking with Lakeside Shepherds. We did and we were able to get on their waiting list by putting up a deposit. Four months later we had a beautiful blue female and she was only $1275.00

A neighbor had a beautiful German Shepherd so when we decided to get one, they referred us to Lakeside Shepherds. We contacted them and made an appointment. We decided on a solid black female we named Kelly’s Shadow. She’s 3 1/2 years old now and we are completely satisfied with her. Highly recommend Lakeside Shepherds.
I put up a deposit on a pup and three weeks later went to pick up the pup. I was very disappointed when I seen that the dogs are kept outside. The breeder explained that the dogs were acclimated to being outside. I didn’t agree but I took the pup to rescue him. I reported the breeder to the authorities but they refused to do anything. They said that the dogs were healthy, had shade, water and food and were doing just fine outside. I think this is just wrong. Dogs should be kept inside and treated like family members. My dog is fine but I’m not satisfied with the way he was brought into this world and living outside.
While some people choose to keep their German Shepherd indoors, it is not required or necessary. German Shepherds were originally bred to live outdoors with sheep and other livestock to protect them from wolves and other predators. They couldn’t protect the herd if kept indoors. The authorities have no problem with the way we raise and treat our German Shepherds. I’m sorry that you have been unable to produce a child of your own and I think it’s just fine for you to keep your German Shepherd indoors and treat him like a family member but there is no need for you to criticize the way we raise ours.
When I picked up my pup, she appeared to be healthy in every way but 4 months later she developed a limp. I immediately thought she had hip displaysia. I contacted the breeder and he listened to my rant but didn’t do anything at that point. He suggested it was most likely panosteitis which in simple terms is just growing pains. He asked me to be patient and contact him again in 4 to 6 weeks and that if the pup had a problem that was a fault of the breeder, he would make it right. I thought he was just giving me the run around so I took the pup to the vet for X-rays which didn’t show any problem and then the vet told me basically the same thing that Mr. Autry told me, panosteitis. A month later the limp was gone and I realized then Mr Autry knew what he was talking about. Lakeside Shepherds, with over 5 decades of experience, can be trusted and knows German Shepherds. Very satisfied with our pup. Thanks Lakeside.

I can’t wait to get my third pup from Lakeside Shepherds. The first two, Ozey and Ivey, are great, easy to train and eager to please. Ozey weighs 104 at 3 years of age and Ivey weighs 76 at 2 yrs. We searched everywhere for a solid powder blue German Shepherd but what few we found were priced two thousand and up. Someone suggested checking with Lakeside Shepherds. We did and we were able to get on their waiting list by putting up a deposit. Four months later we had a beautiful blue female and she was only $1275.00

We love our handsome boy who is in perfect health and turns 3 Nov 16! People compliment his beauty and behavior often. He’s very loving and sociable with people and “generally” plays well with other dogs. So glad we bought this panda gsd from Lakeside.
A neighbor had a beautiful German Shepherd so when we decided to get one, they referred us to Lakeside Shepherds. We contacted them and made an appointment. We decided on a solid black female we named Kelly’s Shadow. She’s 3 1/2 years old now and we are completely satisfied with her. Highly recommend Lakeside Shepherds.
I put up a deposit on a pup and three weeks later went to pick up the pup. I was very disappointed when I seen that the dogs are kept outside. The breeder explained that the dogs were acclimated to being outside. I didn’t agree but I took the pup to rescue him. I reported the breeder to the authorities but they refused to do anything. They said that the dogs were healthy, had shade, water and food and were doing just fine outside. I think this is just wrong. Dogs should be kept inside and treated like family members. My dog is fine but I’m not satisfied with the way he was brought into this world and living outside.
While some people choose to keep their German Shepherd indoors, it is not required or necessary. German Shepherds were originally bred to live outdoors with sheep and other livestock to protect them from wolves and other predators. They couldn’t protect the herd if kept indoors. The authorities have no problem with the way we raise and treat our German Shepherds. I’m sorry that you have been unable to produce a child of your own and I think it’s just fine for you to keep your German Shepherd indoors and treat him like a family member but there is no need for you to criticize the way we raise ours.
When I picked up my pup, she appeared to be healthy in every way but 4 months later she developed a limp. I immediately thought she had hip displaysia. I contacted the breeder and he listened to my rant but didn’t do anything at that point. He suggested it was most likely panosteitis which in simple terms is just growing pains. He asked me to be patient and contact him again in 4 to 6 weeks and that if the pup had a problem that was a fault of the breeder, he would make it right. I thought he was just giving me the run around so I took the pup to the vet for X-rays which didn’t show any problem and then the vet told me basically the same thing that Mr. Autry told me, panosteitis. A month later the limp was gone and I realized then Mr Autry knew what he was talking about. Lakeside Shepherds, with over 5 decades of experience, can be trusted and knows German Shepherds. Very satisfied with our pup. Thanks Lakeside.
We got our German Shepherd, Grizz, from Lakeside Shepherds and couldn’t be happier. The pup is all around fantastic and Lakeside took pride in his pre-adoption care as well as post-adoption. The gave us puppy food for his transition, told us of the lineage, and have checked on him since. We are planning on getting another pup and will absolutely purchase from Lakeside Shepherds again.

Bought a pup from Lakeside Shepherds several years ago and he insisted on us getting a bag of puppy food from them. Although I didn’t understand at the time how important this was to not change the pup’s diet in the midst of changing everything else, I do understand it now as I am now breeding and selling pups.
