We purchased our sweet Calypso from Lakeside Shepherds. When arriving at the grounds we were welcomed with friendly faces. Their shepherds had a wonderful set up. We drove 4 hours straight to get to lakeside shepherds and by far every mile and every minute was worth it. I highly recommend Lakeside Shepherds, but only if you for sure want a top notch dog. With in less than a week Calypso was following basic commands. When I say these dogs are TOP NOTCH, I mean it.

I would like to start my review by saying that I believe every person or family that is a pet parent has a story to tell, however when you are looking to purchase a puppy/dog and you read the sellers/breeders reviews, it’s important to be able to recognize that there are always going to be people out there that want something for nothing or get their kicks smearing good, hard working, ethical breeders names and reputations. If you can’t afford to pay the fair asking price for a purebred puppy chances are you won’t be able or willing to provide the care they deserve. I don’t know you, but you know who you are and you should be ashamed of yourselves. Lakeside Shepherds provides a standard of GS puppies and dogs that takes so much hard work and dedication. And Mr. Autry is so committed to doing everything in his power to make sure each of his dogs is going to a good home. We purchased our Tessa as a Christmas present for our 22 year old son. Almost immediately after bringing her home our son received an amazing job offer taking him away from home and on the road 6 days a week. Anyone who knows anything about German Shepherds knows how important it is for them to get the right amount of exercise and socialization. Tessa and I bonded immediately and I love her so much but I could tell that she was special from the very beginning. She was 8 months old when she came home with us and full of so much energy it was a struggle for me to give her all the attention she wanted and deserved, but she was so smart. And I mean really smart. My husband and I set up an agility course after only a couple weeks of having her. I figured if I challenged her with a fairly difficult course it would help to keep her focused. The very first time through the course she blew my mind. She never missed a beat, didn’t hesitate for a second. Over the next month or so I developed some health issues and came to the sad reality that I would need to find her a new home, but I just couldn’t. I have been struggling with this for a month now. She’s so special so if I were to let her go anywhere with anyone they would have to be special too. I am happy to report that I got in contact with our local Sheriffs Department at a NNDDA event. I spoke to Sargent Wade who oversees the k9 program and told him how incredible my girl Tessa is. I was able to show him a couple videos of her and he is very interested. He will be coming by on Sunday to meet her and evaluate her potential. I believe she will be such an asset to our entire community and that this is her true purpose. This is the caliber of German Shepherds the Autry’s at lakeside Shepherds provides and I would recommend them to anyone looking for that perfect puppy. Thank you David Autry for all that you do. P.S. to anyone that took the time to read this, if your are looking for an amazing puppy from an amazing breeder… lakeside Shepherds is the place to find both.

We went through a few names and settled on Sarge. We could have not made a better choice. This pic is at 9 weeks old. 11.4 pounds. He so smart. Funny. Learning from our 14 yr8mo old border collie. She is definately teaching him his manners. Loves his toys. Is almost house trained. Whines when he wants out and sometimes his standing at the door. The border was eating a pigs ear laid it down and looked around. Sarge took a toy that covered the pig ear laid it on the ear then took the ear and left the toy for the border. Needless to say he thought he had made a good deal. Thank you for an awesome dog.

We have been very satisfied with our purchase of our Lakeside Shepherd pups. Yes we bought two.
My wife and I went looking for only one, but I had two that I believed we would choose from.
Well that didn’t go as planned. My wife said get them both, so to keep peace in the home I said sure. She didn’t have to twist my arm though.
Mr. Autry was very patient and answered all our questions. It was a pleasure doing business with him and his wife. Great people that we enjoyed spending a little time with.
If you are looking for a GSD give them a try I don’t think you will be disappointed.

So I’ve never adopted an animal from a shelter or a breeder, animals usually just find their way to me. As a first time adopting an animal the service was great, the owners were very helpful and answered all my questions about the dogs. All in all I would go back to them and I do mean all the way from VA to TN. 10 out of 10 highly recommend.2

Put down the deposit when my puppy was only 4 weeks old. They kept me updated all along the way until I picked him up! Very active and lively pup and obvious he is going to be a big boy. Great health and took the time to explain what diet he was on and all about where to get the food and his shot and worming information. Answered all my questions and was one of the best experiences I’ve had getting a puppy. I strongly recommend!!!2

My husband and I drove from Missouri to Tennessee to get our 1st dog together from this great breeder. We bought a black German shepherd female and she’s the sweetest, most loving dog! She has a shiny, super silky coat that glows and is very muscular and does a great job protecting me when my hubby travels. We couldn’t be happier with our “little” baby (he’s over 120 lbs. hehehe). We drove 8 hours one way to get him over two years ago, and he’s definitely made a difference in our little pack. We have three other dogs (two dobermans and a cocker spaniel) that he loves to harass with his puppy playfulness, but they love it… for the most part. There have been some rough patches where he thought he should be in charge because he’s the “protector of the pack,” but he’s since learnt his place in the pack and loves being where he’s at for now. He’s very smart and eager to learn, and has picked up all the stuff the others have taught him…good and bad…LOL. He is very protective of the house and family, and pulls my daughter where he wants her with a gentle mouthing manuever (he grabs her coat sleeve and pulls her where he wants her because she isn’t allowed to leave for college without him!). He loves to play ALL the time.
When we arrived to pick him up, he was already up front and ready for us to take home. It was raining that day so he was a little scared and wet, but he snuggled up with my daughter in the hotel room for the night. The paperwork was simple and fast since we needed to fill out some extra stuff for the disabled military discount. What a great program for us disabled vets to get such a loyal and protective companion! I would definitely get any further German Shepherds from here. Even my veterinarian said that he’s a great looking dog, and they specialized in German Shepards and Doberman

I got my panda german shepherd when she was slightly over a year old from them! At first she was pretty timid; but, she has the best temperament of any dog I’ve ever been around. She is great with dogs and humans and can lay in the house and be trusted to not chew things up since day one! She is nervous of loud noises; but, again I bought her as an adult dog and she had only been in a breeder environment; so, outside socializing exposure is hard to do because you don’t as a breeder want to bring germs back to new puppies born. She is embark tested and clear of everything but dm gene. Overall i love her and am very happy with my purchase and would recommend these puppies to pet homes ❤️ Because they have great temperament and very loving to both humans and dogs and even my cats! Since I purchased her I have had no issues and I’ve had her for about a year now. ❤️ Her parents are Moses and Roxie ❤️4

We bought our boy in summer of 2020 (no better time to raise a GSD with all the time in the world to decorate to them). We paid for pick of the white males of the litter and we absolutely couldn’t be happier. The breeder was very knowledgeable, took the utmost care, including not allowing us to touch the pups due to Covid, was very responsive throughout the process. I am absolutely in love with him, he’s a head turner. He’s incredibly intelligent and worth every penny I spent (which isn’t as much as other breeders, I can assure you).

My Lakeside Shepherd pup is 2 years old and has become a solid member of our family. She is highly intelligent, very sweet and loving, and will guard her home and family with her life. I took her to a professional trainer that specializes in GSD”s when she was 1 year old. The trainer told me she was one of the best German Shepherds she has seen. She told me the dog was an Alpha female with no fear aggression which can be a problem within the breed. She told me my dog was scared of nothing. The dog is protective of the home, however when I take her to the park or to Lowe’s she will allow any stranger to pet her. She will stay perfectly still and wont move a muscle when children walk up and pet her.
The Veterinarian staff always brag on her as well and say “that’s a nice German Shepherd!”. She is everything you can ask for in a GSD. I believe Mr. Autry when he says he has carefully selected the dogs to breed. The proof is in the pudding. I’ve been to this facility and it was a very nice looking place and a very pleasant experience. This is the only place I would look if I needed another German Shepherd.

This is a late but highly deserved review. I had been looking for another GSD to add to our family. I searched local to me (California) and was unable to find any breeders that I got the warm fuzzies with. I am originally from TN and was headed back on vacation so prior to trip, I started looking in the TN area, I found The Autry’s and their GORGEOUS dogs. I made an appointment to go see the pups when I was there and came home with our newest family member. We are thrilled! He tuned 2 in December 2020. He has had no health issues, we get many compliments on his looks (he’s a sable). He is smart…maybe even too smart. If the cards are right…I hope to bring home another Lakeside pup in April. Highly recommend if you are looking for a good quality pup.4

We have purchased 2 German Shepherds from Lakeside! Our first was an anniversary gift and we went straight to Lakeside to pick out our pup. Amazing set up and care for the animals. Breeder has always been exceptionally friendly and helpful, even years later. When we purchased our 2nd pup with thoughts of breeding ourselves, they were wonderfully helpful again as we chose our 2nd furry pal! I can’t say enough good things about Lakeside. Even with puppies of our own now, I’d still happily get another from Lakeside. The love is seen and shown all the way through their dogs, pups, and customer service relationships. Max’s original book “German Shepherd in Word and Picture” has many photo’s of GSD playing with children, sharing their food with baby chicks, playing ring around a posy with the children, hanging out with baby lambs; basically the farmers right hand as they also kept the children safe and the farm animals safe from predators. They take their job seriously and love with their whole hearts. They want and need to be part of the family.
